Bulgaria's Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naidenov, asked Italy for support in the unfreezing of the much needed SAPARD funds.

The Minister stated Thursday, during a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Stefano Benazzo, that the new Agriculture Ministry's leadership had fulfilled all requirements of the European Commission and is hoping for a positive outcome.

Naidenov pointed out the extreme importance of those funds for the modernization and development of farming in Bulgaria.

The Minister stressed that Italy had been a strong supporter of Bulgaria since the country's EU accession and that the two countries share many common views on farming policies.
