The Bulgarian Criminal Police department has worked with the Sofia Prosecutor's office to arrest 7 members of an organized criminal group who were involved in property fraud.

The group was involved in trying to sell and buy property in the ‘Sveta Troitsa' neighborhood of Sofia. The Prosecutor's office was informed regarding a fraudulent deal for a BGN 70 000 apartment by a notary in the neighborhood 10 days ago.

The Interior Ministry informed that the fraudsters had produced fake documents including plans, tax documents, notary acts and others in an attempt to ‘steal' apartments from old people in the area who would have been left without a home.

Members of the group, aged from 37-50, turned up at the notary with all the documents needed for both selling and buying the apartments. They are now being held for questioning by police.
