On of each three Bulgarians becomes a victim of financial frauds in the Internet.
This was announced Wednesday by Georgi Dimitrov, from the Law and Internet Foundation, in an interview for Darik Radio.
The most recent frauds are the so called "fake news", he said. They are used to control the shares prices on the stock exchange, and create a panic on the financial market.
For example, messages that companies have filed for bankruptcy are being sent to hundreds of millions of Internet users. Those who have shares in the company are worried, and immediately start selling their stocks.
The shares price is going down, and there is a possibility of someone to make a bargain. When the prices are back to normal, the cheaters can make a lot of money.
Other wide spread frauds, according to the experts, are done through fake web-sites. They ask people to enter umber and the password of their bank accounts or credit cards.
In Dimitrov's words, the so called Nigerian frauds are pretty popular. In them, Internet users receives an e-mail from his bank containing a request to change the number and password of their accounts. In this way, millions of USD and EUR are being stolen, experts say.
