Bulgaria's politics is threatened by the infiltration of gangsters, according to Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev.

Stanishev declared Saturday in the Black Sea city of Varna that gangsters, or "mutri" as they are called in Bulgarian, were making their way into a number of political parties, including ones seriously aspiring to power after the July 5 Parliamentary Elections.

The Prime Minister was in Varna in order to open a rehabilitated road between the Vinitsa Quarter and the St. Constantine and Helena Resort. The road works cost a total of BGN 2 850 000 and were provided under the EU Operational Program "Regional Development".

Stanishev also gave the start of two other projects for completing the sewerage systems of the Quarters of Vinitsa and Galata, funded by state budget with BGN 2,5 M and BGN 1,5 M respectively.

The outgoing Prime Minister made his point that Bulgaria needed a stable government immediately after the coming elections in order to be able to build upon the progress that his cabinet had achieved in improving the absorption of EU money.
