The authorities in the northeast Brazilian state of Pernambuco have announced that the first 11 bodies belonged to five Brazilian men, five Brazilian women, and a man of foreign origin without specifying his nationality.

The medical examiners used dental records, fingerprints and DNA samples used to identify the first 11 of the total of 50 bodies that have been recovered from the ocean so far, BGNES reported.

The authorities have notified the families of the identified casualties as well as the respective foreign embassy but are not going to reveal the identities to the public.

French, US, and Brazilian navies are still searching for the black boxes of the missing Air France plane.
