The independent Bulgarian Member of Parliament, Georgi Georgiev, was removed from Tuesday's Parliamentary session after he nearly got into a fight with a fellow deputy.

The incident occurred as a result of a statement of Yane Yanev, the leader of the Law, Order, Justice party, on the role of Bulgaria's former Tsar and former PM Simeon Saxe-Coburg.

In his statement, Yanev said Saxe-Coburg had brought Bulgaria to a "third national catastrophe" (Bulgaria's two National Catastrophes occurred in 1913 and 1918) in which the country's political system was shattered. Yanev vowed his party would do anything to punish the "Red Tsar" and his associates for their crimes.

Yanev's speech allegedly caused tension between MP Georgiev, and MP Olimpi Katev from Saxe-Coburg's party, the National Movement for Stability and Progress. According to BGNES, Georgiev grabbed Katev for his hands in order to prevent him from hitting him as Katev was insulting and swearing at him.

Georgiev claims that Katev threated to kill and "crush" Yane Yanev. Katev himself claims that he was sitting peacefully, and Georgiev came over to him and hit him on the back of his head.

When asked if Georgiev grabbed him for the hands, Katev said, "He can grab me wherever he wants but I can't say where because it is inappropriate".

Darik Radio reports that the scandal between the two MPs erupted after Katev repeatedly accused Georgiev of coming to work drunk.
