Alleged Balkan drugs lord Sreten Josic was arrested late Monday in former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic's house in central Belgrade, which he is currently renting.

Josic is being questioned by the Serbian police and will allegedly be held under arrest for 48 hours before being brought before a judge in a Belgrade court according to Serbian Radio B92.

Josic, also known as Joca Amsterdam, was detained on charges of being an accomplice in the murder of the owner of the Croatian magazine "National" Ivo Pukanic. The arrest came after a request by the Croatian police.

At the beginning of April Sreten Josic made headlines in Bulgaria, telling a Belgrade court he enjoyed the protection of high-ranking officials here, citing the names of the then Interior Chief Secretary Boyko Borisov, who was later elected Sofia mayor, and Nikolay Gigov, owner of Lokomotiv football club.

Borisov vehemently denied the allegations, accusing the ruling three-party coalition of crafting a long-term strategy to discredit him.

Ivo Pukanic, owner and editor-in-chief of the Croatian weekly "Nacional" and the publication's marketing director Niko Franic were killed by a car bomb on October 23 in downtown Zagreb.

According to Croatian authorities the person, who ordered the assault had paid EUR 150 000. The suspects identified as the alleged perpetrators were until recently Zhelko Milovanovic, former Red Beret and Boyan Guduric, who according to the Serbian press is hiding in Bulgaria.
