The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will sign an agreement Tuesday for a new air communications system between Bulgaria and Qatar.

Khalifa Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah are paying a two-day official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of President Georgi Parvanov, Bulgarian National Radio reported.

This is the first state visit by a Qatar monarch to Bulgaria. Tuesday, the two heads of state will meet and the official delegations will hold plenary talks.

The focus will be laid on bilateral relations and the fulfillment of the commitments made during the visit of the Bulgarian president in Doha in 2007.

Khalifa Al Thani will look into cooperation in the field of energy and the opportunities for constructing a terminal for liquefied natural gas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, as well as the implementation of a joint Bulgaria-Qatar project for a regional centre for rehabilitation of disabled children.
