New data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) sheds light on the housing landscape in Bulgaria, painting a picture of the majority of Bulgarians residing in older homes.

347 of the mistreated children and teenagers have been abused by family members and 130 outside the family.
In 2008 the number of criminally listed minors has declined by 4 047, which is 6,5% less compared to 2007. Most of them live in disadvantage conditions, don't attend school of work.
In 2008, there is registered decrease in the number of youth using illegal drugs, those listed for prostitution, truancy, alcohol abuse as well as in the number runaways from home.
The incidents of theft and robbery committed by minors also show a decrease, but pick pocketing and hooliganism are on the rise.
