Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
One single crime group perpetrates all of the emblematic abductions in Sofia and the Police have information about them.
The statement was made by former high ranking employees of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry, who spoke to Darik radio under the condition of anonymity.
The Darik sources insist that automobiles and members of the crime group have been intercepted on several occasions by the Interior Ministry, such as in the kidnapping case of the 15-year-old son of murdered businessman, Ivo Markov, and the largely publicized abduction of the former President of the "Litex" Football Club, Angel Bonchev, and his wife, Kamelya.
The revelations came on the heels of the latest case of the missing Sofia businessman, Kiro Kirov. The whereabouts of the 70-year-old President of the Kirov companies are unknown since March 27.
The anonymous sources further insist that the alleged crime group authored several other kidnappings that have remained hidden from the public.
Two years ago, the Interior Ministry had also intercepted another Sofia gang, but never revealed information about them either, the sources say. The gang dealt with the abductions of wealthy elderly people. The perpetrators researched their victims and after obtaining information about their wealth, abducted them and blackmailed them to transfer their properties. The elderly people later disappeared without a trace.
