Macedonian Bishop Orders Bulgarian Military Bones Exhumation

Bitola Bishop Petar of the Prespan-Pelagorian eparchy in Macedonia has ordered all bones of Bulgarian officers and soldiers in military cemeteries around the country to be exhumed, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) reported late Thursday.
The bones would then be buried again in one central burial chamber, over which a Macedonian monument would be erected, the Bishop stated.
The Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Ministry reacted to the Bishop's statement by assigning the Bulgarian Ambassador to Macedonia, Miho Mihov, the task of clarifying the matter with the Macedonian Foreign Affairs Ministry and making it clear that such actions were inadmissible and would harm bilateral relations.
Bulgarian MEP Nikolai Mladenov added that the European Commission and European Parliament would be briefed on the ongoing anti-Bulgarian' campaign in the Macedonia.
