The 53-year-old Director of the Sofia Lung Diseases Hospital, Professor Lyubcho Penev, was stabbed with a knife Wednesday night by the woman he is currently living with.

The incident happened around 8:30 pm on the Mur Street in Sofia's Buckstone Quarter. Penev's girlfriend stabbed him twice under his left shoulder.

The Professor was rushed to the emergency ward of the Pirogov Hospital, where he had a surgery, and his life is presently out of danger.

The police are investing the case. The most likely cause for it is a family row.
