A passenger jet of US Airways made an emergency landing in the Hudson River Thursday afternoon Eastern Time. No persons have been killed or injured in the accident.
Flight 1549 traveling from LaGuardia Airport in New York City to Charlotte, North Carolina, went down into the Hudson River shortly after it took off, the Washington Post reported.
According to a representative of the Federation Aviation Administration, the plane appeared to have hit a flock of birds, which caused it to lose both of its engines.
A spokesperson of the Department of Homeland Security has stated there was no evidence the accident had been "security related".
The 155 passengers on board were quickly rescued from the plane by emergency teams.
