EC Warns Moscow, Kiev with Legal Action over Gas Dispute

The President of the European Commission (EC) Jose Manuel Barroso declared Wednesday that he would advise European energy companies to sue Gazprom and Naftogaz if they did not restore supplies as quickly as possible.

Barroso told the European Parliament the dispute between the Ukraine and Russia was "most unacceptable and incredible", adding that "if the agreement is not honored, it means that Russia and Ukraine can no longer be regarded as reliable."

The statement was issued while the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Slovakia and Moldova are trying to discuss the situation with Moscow and Kiev.
