Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov had a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Victor Yushchenko, the President's press center reported Saturday.

During the conversation Yushchenko had declared that his country was prepared to supply Bulgaria with 1,5 to 2 M cubic meters of natural gas per day from the Ukraine's own reserves.

Yushchenko, reportedly, has already ordered the Ukrainian energy company "Naftogaz" to contact the Bulgarian "Bulgargaz" to determine the technical issues regarding the gas delivery.

Both Presidents have agreed to make any necessary effort to secure immediate gas transit from Ukraine to Bulgaria.

Parvanov had expressed sincere thanks to the Ukrainian side for the offer, made under such difficult conditions for the Bulgarian economy and the Bulgarian people. The President has further stated that all Bulgarian institutions dealing with the issue would immediately begin working on securing gas supply from the Ukraine.

Parvanov also insisted before his Ukrainian counterpart that Russian gas supplies via the Ukraine resume as quickly as possible for all European consumers.
