Commenting article: France Postpones Mistral Warship Handover Indefinitely, Russia Threatens With 'Serious Claims'

The French government has decided to put a hold on the delivery of two Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia.

The decision comes after months of uncertainty about whether Russia would receive the ships under the EUR 1.2 B deal, amid sanctions imposed by the West for Russian incursions into Ukraine, or whether French shipbuilder DCNS would instead find another buyer.

Nevertheless, it was believed that the first ship, Vladivostok, would be handed over to Russia on November 14, as per an invitation sent by the DCNS offices in Paris to the Russian state-owned arms supplier Rosoboronexport in October. According to a photo of the invitation, tweeted by Russia's Foreign Minister Dmitry Rogozin in the end of October, Pierre Legros, Senior Vice President of DCNS was personally inviting Rogozin to the delivery ceremony of Vladivostok in the St Nazaire harbour.

"We will wait until the end of the month, then we will lay some serious claims," said the unnamed source-----Your "source" is a plain fool, Novinite. In conformity with the Contract, France can pospone the handing "Mistral" over to Russia by 3 months, i.e. till February, 2015. And France will deliver these (absolutely needless to Russia) carriers, alas.

Yes France will deliver the ships, the political consequences for the French government is too great.

French people want the jobs building these ships provides and the French government would fall if they had to pay Eur 1.2 billion to Russia, France is broke and cant afford the compensation.

They are pretending to be strong but will give in and conform to their contracts.

Kiev is not worth the loss of jobs and the money.

This rat Optmistic keeps spouting anti-Russian propaganda because he is on the payroll of GERB and the rest of those fascists who want Russia to fail in their bid to democratize Ukraine. What we need is a BSP-MRF-Ataka coalition to ensure the prosperity of the Bulgarian people just like they did in 2013 and to also ensure that political disenters like Optimistic are sent to Belene concentration camp for re-education.
