An investor from the German free province of Bavaria has stated interest in Bulgaria's project to build a second Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in the Danube town of Belene, a high-ranking official with the Bavarian Economy Ministry confirms.
The Head of the Southeastern and Central Europe Directorate at the Ministry, Martin Grossman, revealed the information for journalists Wednesday, saying it was true Bulgaria approached Bavaria about the NPP, however, the talks were held without a representative of his institution.
Grossman declined offering further details, but promised more would be announced when "the time is right."...
Well, well, who is surprised ?
An investor has stated interest in NPP and will look into the project. No promises and no declarations of intent so far.
But the official Bulgarian version is totally different. A strategic investor has been found and the Parliament speaker has even assured NPP will be financed.
It is a wise move by the Bavarian official to keep a low and sensible profile, and leave it to the Bulgarian authorities to make fools of themselves as in the F1 case.
