percy - 16 Sep 2009 // 07:21:12

Interesting though you two are (your squabble sounds very good natured! I don't want to lose any more good or helpful advice...folk might get side tracked away from my problem and start trying to calm you two down!!)

So can we go back to topic please? THANK YOU both for your imput so far though and I have to say that I don't know the answer about the flag thing or I'd have put my 'two penneth' in ! :-)

How about buying a BB gun??????

BULERICAN - 16 Sep 2009 // 07:49:16

A little something for thought.
Yo know those wonderful electric mosquito zappers that work wonders, the ones that go zzzzzt everytime a moth or mosquito is drawn to the delightfully light buzzing ???

Bees also are crazy about that buzzing noise, that is why they are drawn to flourescent lighting in droves.

I would recommend 6 - 10 on the side of the property direction of the bees of course, only drawback I see is the increased electrical bill, and all the dead bees you will have to clean up. However as the number of bees decreases, you can turn off 1 or 2 of the zappers, and there will be less bodies to take care of.

Yes the bees are merely insects, and it's not the nicest thing to do to them, but if there are no other solutions...

If there is no such thing as a civil ensign can you take the time to explain that to "the red duster"?

Bill - 16 Sep 2009 // 08:50:21

I appreciate your concern, but I'm stuck with answering Nellie on whatever thread she appears and starts in again.

Bill - 16 Sep 2009 // 08:52:07

Not knowing who or what "the red duster is", it seems to be a frivolojus question unless you go into more detail, but what I said is true, whether he/she/it approves or not.

And you're back to your sniping from the sidelines methodology again, I see.

"Do you know the semaphore flag signaling system?"

Had to learn it to get out of basic training, but never had to use it or flashing light signalling. That belongs to a different segment of the group than the one I was in. I had to work with the flag codes, but not other methods.

And to answer your other post, no, you're still not right.

"Let me be perfectly clear--the word "courtesy" in rarely in my vocabulary."

Or your manners. Your months-long diatribe against the Church was disgusting.

Bill - 16 Sep 2009 // 09:19:12

Didn't have to ho any farther than the Google home page. I found the following:

"The Red Ensign or "Red Duster" is a flag that originated in the early 17th century as a British ensign flown by the Royal Navy"

Notice the word, "ensign", in that statement.

The British merchant and the British ensign differ in that the ensign has a red field and the merchant blue.

"I appreciate your concern, but I'm stuck with answering Nellie on whatever thread she appears and starts in again."

Wrong were the one who hijacked this topic and that didn't happen for the first time. Don't only use the "latest opinions" in order to reply as I'm pretty sure that's the reason of your hijackings. It's pretty annoying and obstructing when reading a thread about a specific topic to be thrown off topic. This apart from the by now extremely boring and long arguments you have with Nelly. So again take my advice and install some chat program (ICQ, MSN) and start your disagreements and fights there.

Bill - 16 Sep 2009 // 10:05:25

I admit to using the latest opinions page. Chasing down the indidual threads, some of which are pages long, is more than I can handle.

Blinky Bill,

Read past the end of your nose man! To the end of the 3rd sentence should suffice!

Hairydave - 16 Sep 2009 // 11:26:19

Ahh - you're all wrong.

It simply means the bloke with the keys to the flag cabinet is pissed as a rat again.

********************* BACK ON TOPIC !!! ******************************

Using a BB gun , not sure how effective that would be, short of getting the bees to fly by with little targets on their behind !

The zappers, oh my other half roared with laughter!! but you could see the wheels turning all the same!! though might need to get shares in EVN :-))

Even today the bees are out in large numbers, around you constantly, sometimes landing on you or gwtting caught up in your hair, it does get annoying and stressful and tiresome.

Todays list of people to contact will be the Ministry of Agriculture (again) and I will contact Magdelena Williams as was suggested to me.

To the credit of the reporter who covered this story he has been chasing people trying to get answers on our behalf and giving us advice on other people to contact, also promising to do a follow up depending on any actions taken by the authorities, so a special "Thank you" to Henry.

We're hoping that by the start of next autumn then we might manage to get some way towards a solution...but not holding our breath!

Must add this little funny thoughm there's a new comere to the village who we didnt know prior to his coming here, his house is opposit the bee keepers house - the bee keeper just walks into the new comers house at almost half past nine at night uninvited...he got thrown out BIG TIME... so he won't be selling any honey to him !! LOL :-)
