Congratulations to the team at TED-BED.

(Is this another of SNA's PR clients? Doesn't seem like a news story)

"But Bulgaria is not just Azis, just as Germany can not be identified with Oktoberfest or England – with its growing intolerance to immigrants."

Steady on there! One might more fairly say US cannot be identified with Liberace, or England with Boy George...

It is only pop culture. Chalga is hugely popular in BG, whatever we may think about it. In this sense international media are just holding a mirror to Bulgaria. It is not always nice to see yourself as others see you...

'Days before Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union on January 1, 2007, a high-ranking official at a EU member state embassy in Sofia sarcastically told me that "chalga is what you will bring into the EU". Four years later Bulgarians have proved him wrong'

In what way did Bulgarians prove him wrong? Unless you mean that Bulgarians also brought agricultural gastarbeiters, mafia, etc. But these Bulgarians were already in the EU before 2007...

“The amendment is good only for the big industrialized mass producers, but it will harm the revenues of small agriculture producers and the local land owners. It also endangers the existing job positions in the agriculture, as well as the future job positions at the sphere of renewable energy,”

What a surprise. Guess who has been handing over "sweeteners" to the elected representatives?

"The contents (the man himself) of the polo shirt do not really point to elite military training, but more to elite beer drinking training."

So then, apparently this story boils down to the following:

Overweight wannabe mafioso in fake polo shirt returns from having a few Zagorkas in Sunny Beach, only to be arrested because of the gossip of some nameless Bulgarian.

Closer to the truth?

Ahem, if his polo shirt is to be believed, he was also trained at the UK's elite military academy Sandhurst. Many a terrorist, dictator and mercenary has graduated there: Idi Amin springs to mind.

Fausten, why should I take you seriously when you can't even spell "narcissism" correctly?

"One admonition, however, was true: "If you weren't raised in Greece, treat ouzo as poison". Greeks drink ouzo like the Russians do vodka, but for non-natives that can get deadly."

I know this to my own cost! However, if you drink it like the Greeks do, with ice, and with something to eat, it's not so bad. Similarly in Bulgaria you should drink Rakia straight from the freezer, like vodka. Have a salad with it ease the stomach burn, like the natives do...

Bill: "Berlin is about as much the "real" Germany as Los Angeles and New York are the "real" USA."

Similarly London is not the "real" UK, Moscow not the "real" Russia, Sofia not the "real" Bulgaria...
