Crowned king of world chess, Topalov received a warm welcome, worthy of his title. The VIP exit of Sofia Airport was packed with journalists, chess federation officials, sponsors and simply excited onlookers. Topalov took his first steps on Bulgarian land as a named king before the never-forgiving eye of the cameras. Next he will be facing a week full of interviews, public appearances and bathing in the media attention. But let's face it; he deserves the glory for managing to grab a world title in a sport as intellectual, interesting and intense as chess.
