Photo Story: Rusko Ruskov with an Exhibition of his Silk Road Journey

The 3D artist who went with his motorcycle on the ancient silk road returned home after a 60-day journey, 10 countries, 20,000 km and thousands of moments sealed in photographs.

On September 28, 2017, at "The Traveler Club", Sofia, the head of the 3D team of a Bulgarian company that won an Oscar, Chaos Group, Rusko Ruskov gathered friends and lovers of trips to share the story about his experiences on the Path of silk. On 28 May, Rusko left Bulgaria to go alone with his motor on the ancient silk road. Travel preparation lasted more than 7 months and included physical and mental adjustment for the long adventure. During the preparations Rusko dropped more than 15 kilograms.

In addition to the richness of new and unknown experiences, Ruskov returned to Bulgaria with a lot of positive impressions from the eastern countries. Travelin in Iran during the Muslim Ramadan holiday, Rusko is forced to live for 4 days only on bread, raisins and water. "I've rarely felt more comfortable. Local people accepted me as part of their family. I was surprised to find that Iran, contrary to representations and images constructed by some media, is a welcoming and very beautiful country, "says the designer.

The warmest was in Turkmenistan, in the field of the Crave Darvase, not accidentally called the Door to Hell. There Rusko almost fainted due to the heat, but he made some of his most beautiful photographs. Ashgabat welcomed surprised him as a futuristic city with air-conditioned stops and enormous marble buildings from the future, but only a few kilometers outside the capital of Turkmenistan, time seems to have stopped and asphalt roads are a rare luxury. This country is also one of the most difficult to visit because it is almost impossible to get a visa. However, the visa challenges do not stop there. It turns out that most of these mystical states have no embassies in Bulgaria, and their closest representations are in Vienna or Berlin, and Rusko faced a real difficulty in settling all the documents. "Until the last moment, there was a risk of being trapped in Turkey or Iran, because I was just able to get some of my visas beforehand," says the traveler.

Expected coldest wass 4655 meters above sea level in Pamir. It is there that, when climbing one of the highest mountain roads, Rusko underestimated the symptoms of altitude sickness and thus found himself trapped in an area for more than two days: "It was so bad to me, along with the sharp pains in the head, heart, I just did not know if I would live. These were the most nightmare two days of the trip, "admits the 3D artist.

Asked by the guests of the event what he learned during these 60 days, Rusko replied: "If you ask me if I found myself - I have not. I found that we need very little to be happy. I met dozens of people who traveled around the world on a scooters, driven only by the desire to travel. I left alone because I wanted to merge with the locals, to get to know them, to immerse in their culture and way of life. I think I succeeded. I met so many positive, kind and wonderful people who welcomed me in their homes and shared their food with me - this is the most precious memory for me. Not the beautiful sights, not the city sights, not the monuments make the trips magical, but the people we meet on our way. "

After his return to Bulgaria, Russo took weeks to adapt to his everyday life. "We dream too much, and we do too little. And it should be the opposite, "said the 31-year-old adventurer.

The "Silk Road" photo exhibition will continue until mid-October at the "Traveler Club".

ThinkPad on the Silk Road
For his extreme adventure, Russo needed a machine that can withstand the harsh conditions on the road. During his training and detailed research, he chose the Thinkpad X270 - reliable, robust and passed a number of military standards of endurance.
