The death toll from the collapse of a roof at a supermarket in Latvia's capital has climbed to 33.
The death toll is expected to keep rising as there are still people trapped inside.
The incident happened at 6 pm local time on Thursday, at a time when the store was busy with customers.
According to recent reports of local media outlets, 36 have sustained injuries, while 28 of them have been admitted to hospital.
Three of those killed were emergency workers, who were helping those trapped, when more of the roof came down – 20 minutes after the initial collapse.
The cause of the collapse is still unclear but the fact that a garden is being built on the roof may have been a contributing factor due to the weight of the soil.
Rescue efforts continue.
