Should Bulgaria ban the wearing of face-covering veils in public spaces? Bulgarian lawmakers are to debate on a proposal that could restrict the use of veils which partly of fully cover the face in public spaces and institutions. Security grounds and the need to prevent attempts at stirring divisions within the Bulgarian society have often been cited as arguments, while critics have questioned the effect of such a move and have warned it might amount to religious discrimination and infringement on rights.
