Commenting article: Bulgaria Has Too Many Universities - Education Minister

Education Minister Todor Tanev has backed amendments to the Education Act aimed at depriving specialized higher education institutions of the title university.

Of course there was crying from the Buglarian governement when Turkey refused to accept diplomas from Bulgaria. There is a lot of revenue from the turkish students who are spending a lot of money on restaurants, renting appartments, night clubs and of course bribing the professors in order to pass the exams.

Just take a drive, day or night, through Sofia's famous studnetski grad region. You have 5 star hotels, endless casino's, innumerable night clubs, total parking chaos, dirty unsanitary food pavilions (so called manga street). About the only thing you won't see in student city is a police car. At night , 7th Region only has one police car assigned to this entire region plus a part of Mladost.

So, what can we say for a university system, where the very campus area is run like DisneyLand. Are these institutions for real? Even Turkey last year cancelled acceptance of diploma's from Bulgaria. However after much crying and lying, our government was able to convince Turkey to rescind their decision.
