Commenting article: Tears And Rain reader Philip Clayton shares his expert suggestions on reducing the risk and dealing with floods.

As I sit watching the global news and change channel to get away from the horrors of war I see that yet again Bulgaria has been bombarded by storms and heavy rainfall with the village of Berkovitsa the latest community to be declared a “State of Emergency”.

I have witnessed some horrific flooding in and around my home town and region, Veliko Tarnovo this year, and having a late father that worked for one of Britain’s Water Authorities, I cannot help but wonder where does this flooding problem stem from and how can the risk to life and property be better mitigated?

Thanks Geoff for your observations and responses, don't profess to be an expert on the subject via biologically acquiring expertise from my Father, it was more of a personal and respectful reference.
The articles in Novinite are entitled expert voices, however it does give the opportunity for voices like yours (with a unviversity proffesorship perhaps?) to intelectually contribute.

What does the above poster mean, the Roma throw away rubbish? Dump their own now in those ditches?

Do they also thieve trees in Varna? Perhaps a pattern could be found and these brazen people brought to a warm prison cell on mass. But wait, then all probable want to go to jail (maybe introduce buggery like in UK prisons. So I'm told, Appears a good deterrent).

We all know is one law for them and laws for everyone else, those the parliament pass. And passing the buck or leva, to more worthy causes many sure could agree.

When are no more trees to thieve perhaps then many will once again freeze to death during a winter.
