Commenting article: Bulgaria Reveals Germany's RWE 2008 Letter on N-Plant, Price Whopping EUR 10 B

German utility RWE abandoned plans to participate in the construction of a 2000MW nuclear plant in the Bulgarian Danube town of Belene after realizing that its price tag has towered to EUR 10 B, according to the prime minister.

This allegedly emerges from a letter by the major German company to Bulgaria's state energy holding company NEK, dated 2008, which Prime Minister Boyko Borisov made public on Monday.

The letter was discovered by accident by Economy and Energy Minister Delyan Dobrev, tucked in a box, holding strictly confidential information, where the previous government hoped it will remain unseen, Borisov said.

most Bulgarian millionaires got into positions of power pre-1989, and raped the country of nationally owned resources, land and companies for their own benefit.

the successful ones are now mildly more legitimate, but still make massive personal gain at the expense of ordinary Bulgarians.

The REALLY successful ones hide most of their gains outside of Bulgaria (luxembourg, switzerland etc) and there is no chance of this money being "reinvested" in Bulgaria.

But of course, it's legitimate FOREIGN companies that Bulgaria needs protecting from - filthy capitalist pigs.

what makes you think the bulgarian millionaires would care?

Maybe it would be better for Bulgaria if some of Bulgaria's millionnaires (or billionnaires) funded the building of this power plant. Foreign companies are only in it for the money and tend not to care about the consumers. In other words if the power is not reaching homes or if the costs for customers become unmanageable, they do not care.
