The trail against Bulgaria's the notorious pair of alleged local mafia bosses, known as the Galevi brothers, resumed Tuesday in the Regional Court in the southwestern city of Kyustendil.
Plamen Galev and Angel Hristov, known as the Galevi brothers, have been charged with extortion and racketeering. They have made headlines over the past year as self-proclaimed benefactors of Dupnitsa, an impoverished and dilapidated Bulgarian town at the foot of the Rila mountain, some 60 km south of Sofia, and as failed runners in the summer general elections.
From the 24 summoned witnesses, 17 arrived in the courtroom while 9 already took the witness stand. Most of them said they did not remember anything and did not know anything....
This is the best comedy show happening right now in a court nearest to you. Every week a court case has a reason to be delayed- a funeral, lost of memory, a signed letter from a doctor, work meeting... you name it and it happens. At this rate no trial will come to any conclusion within the next 20 years.
The system is designed not to work. The judges are corrupt and the prosecution is inept or just plain stupid. The witnesses are intimidated to the point they rather go to jail rather than the criminals and the politicians play politics... meanwhile the black jeeps keep driving around Sofia.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You must be an agent provocateur to identify all the BG population centers as impoverished and dilapidated. A true BG person, will always place the blame for all ills on somebody else regardless of how ridiculous that might sound, and will also invoke the yoke.
" Just for my own benefit, what town in Bulgaria (including Sofia) is not "impoverished and dilapidated"?"
This is why Bulgaria is such a tourist destination. All this lack of infrastructure and all these dilapidated and damaged buildings are a tourist magnet, don't you know? It attracts the Eurotrash from the whole world. LOL
