22 400 Bulgarian employees have been sacked since the beginning of 2009 over the negative effects of the economic crisis on business.
A total of 324 companies have filed application in the regional Labor Bureaus, the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Totyu Mladenov, said Thursday.
The biggest number of lay-offs is in the machine-building industry - 6 974, followed by the metallurgy (3 620), the textile industry (3 000), the electricity industry (1 388), and telecommunications (1 300)....
"everyone knows the Germans don't have a sense of humour"
Another one of those "everyone knows" introductions. Germans have a wonderful sense of humo(u)r. Just visit any Volksfest and see for yourself, or--if you can receive one and understand the language-- look at some of the Cabaret and comedy shows on TV.
Britain , France and Germany a joke...maybe, but British and French folk can laugh at such remarks...everyone knows the Germans don't have a sense of humour....but we can laugh because the major economies in Europe are only having a setback...Bulgaria has not had an economy since before the Turks invaded...all they do is wait for handouts and steal...and all the Bulgarian nation can do is thumb their noses at the hand that feeds them via taxpayers of Europe's subsidies, which they steal....well thumb away at your noses, as well you might...a country wisely depicted as a toilet, who's residents throw their refuse on the streets and burn it...filthy, disgusting laziness...Archaeologists say they have found mediaeval relics....too true...the people living here are in the dark ages...no technology, no production, and no farming if Europe's "joke" economies pulled the plug
Wake up and smell the coffee Bulgaria...get into Work Mode, and do something instead of pointing the finger at another country.
I have been many times in Dubai,Abu Dabbi,Saudi Arabia,Kuwait as I had had an English
boyfriend, who was a management consultatant for some oil companies and I travelled
many times in this parts of the world, especially in 1993,1994 until 2007.
When i spoke about GREAT POWERS i did nOT mean economically...I ment, who have
THE MOST POWRFUL ARMIES AND WEAPONRY ON THIS PLANET!
And these are still US FORCES,BRITISH ROYAL FORCES and may be the RUSSIAN ARMY in siome years.
you could save yourself the OBCENE words.
I do not know about high prices for hotels in BG.
Here,in Germany Bulgaria is promoted as a VERY low budget URLAUBSLAND.
Sometimes you get for€269,-flight+hotel for 7 days.
Fact is:EVERY COUNTRY,which invested PREDOMINANTELY in the TOURIST SECTOR,
at some point had problems.
The TOURIST INDUSTRY is a ciclical industry...when there is arecession, people simply
CUT on HOLIDAYS!
don't worry about being blunt and direct. I know you aer right about Greek economy and subsidies; I was paying taxes for 15 years in this place!
You may not want to follow the Greek example but at least try to learn from its pitfalls and successes. Get the best and discard the worst.
Tourism is a sector that distributes the money to the normal people and their communities and most importantly, can exploit natural beauty of a country which comes for free (there is always a cost however). Families can build small studios, appartments or run shops and get annual income and this was what at least
For Dubai I insist on what I said (remember Abu Dhabi is part of Emirates). I live in Saudi the past 5 years and know things 1st hand.
All the best
Still tourism is a hige sector with a lot of money going around.
And Bulgaria has everything for it, more then Greece.
But they decided to be stupid.
Not the tourists or the economy.
And why not build a tourism sector for the East?
I especiallly mean China. For example, they love historical places ...
Without going into any heavy discussions I will mention that the large-scale energy projects I’m talking about will improve your live in Greece also.
Why Bulgaria should not follow the Greek economic model? Here I’ll be blunt and direct; because Greece still has one of the weakest EU economies and it’s a major beneficiary of EU aid. Greece is a nice country but in my opinion it can do way better.
About the BRIC countries I don’t even have the time to talk about, basically they are monsters in rapid transition.
And finally Dubai has ONLY 2% of the oil of UAE. It’s a big misconception that Dubai is oil rich and that’s why the booming reality.
NO the reality is that Dubai is running out of oil and gas and it is diversifying its economy, that’s why all of the developments which not only attract tourism but many immigrants from heavy taxed countries like Britain for example which buy real estate there, start a new life and pay minimal to no taxes at all.
BRIC countries have a huge consumer base individually, extremely low labour costs and poor regulations (for children expecially) and some of them (i.e. Brazil, S. America), its own energy resources. They are destined to grow I agree but I am not sure if Bulgaria could or should follow their model (especially on the human rights issue). Dubai is definitely a model impossible to follow as well, given its vast financial resources out of oil and gas plus the money washing machine established udner the tag of "high level tourism" or FDI in real estate mainly.
In the Med region I estimate at least 10-15 million low-medium income tourists annually during the summer period who are spread between Greece, Turkey and probably Spain over a period of 2-4 months. If Bulgaria cannot attract part of this market (because of exaggerated prices, lack of services etv.) definitely looses an opportunity to improve its economy.
I countries like Greece, over the last 40 years the tourism sector allowed to family owned business to flourish and distributed this wealth to local communities, created jobs, infrastructure etc. etc. Why should not Bulgaria do the same?
There is NO MORE GREAT WEST POWERS!
Countries like Germany, France, Britain etc. are a mere joke by themselves and only an union like the EU can keep them alive.
The power is now in the EAST and/or all over the world.
Russia, China, India and pretty much all of Asia. Have you been to Brazil lately or even how about Mexico with already a larger economy than Canada and a larger car manufacturing output. How about South Korea and/or Hong Kong you will be shocked!
For the reality’s sake even the Arabs are growing like mushrooms, get a dose of reality and go see Dubai!
IT’S A DIFFERENT WORLD OUT THERE!!!
My dearest Geljaskov,
YOU ARE REALY NAIVE...
DO YOU THINK THE WEST GREAT POWERS WILL ALLOW BULGARIA TO BUILD NUCLEAR
JUST TWO DECADES AGO BULGARIA WAS A COMMUNIST COUNTRY AND BEHIND THE
As for tourism you are right...Bulgaria should NOT invest a lot in tourism at the moment, because there is a world recession and people(especially low budget people) can not afford to go on holidays.
A COUNTRY IS LESS VULNERABLE TO WORLD ECONOMIC CRISES WHEN IT's
economy is DIVERSE;DIVERSE AND AGAIN VERY diverse.
Develope ALL BRANCHES of the economy.
No wonder jobs will be lost with all your strategies and theories of building prosperity with tourism.
Keep your focus on the large-scale energy projects morons. Energy in the form of oil, gas, nuclear etc. is the essence of all economies!
(Check Ontario for example)
50% more Chinese Tourists in Bulgaria
Potentially Defective Aluminum was used by All Car Manufacturers in Japan
