Commenting article: Russia, India to Seal Arms and Nuclear Deals

Russian delegation led by President Dmitry Medvedev have arrived in India on an official visit to discuss bilateral ties amid the global financial crisis and sign a number of deals on arms, nuclear power, and space exploration.

The state-run arms exporter, Rosoboronexport, told RIA Novosti on Friday it would sign a contract on the delivery of 80 Mi-17 Hip military transport helicopters to the Indian air force.

Just like she THINKS I wish her dead. I don't wish her out of HER life; only ot of mine.

I am not trying to offend anyone or to troll. You THINK I am trying to troll. Don't believe everything you think.

WickedWitch - 7 Dec 2008 // 12:32:23

Aw, Figgy, you can do better than this. You don't know the first rule in trying to offend, which is "select your victim carefully." This means you should pick a person who gives at least an ounce of crap about what you think or what you say.

Maybe this IS Bill being smarter now. It's a scary thought but imagine what he must have been when he was younger.

Really, man/woman. You're being way too transparent. You'd be transparent to a five-year old. If you're gonna troll, at least put some effort into it, for fvck's sake.

"normally people get wiser with age"

Plain to see that you and WW are both young!

buachaill bo - 7 Dec 2008 // 09:37:15

Its quite sad really as normally people get wiser with age.

Well-taken point. Try living in Los Angeles for a while, among the glitter set. Many very intelligent and creative people, but a high percentage of weirdos.

Continuing the proofreading point, let's take DA's example and expand on it a bit. She was accused of not knowing the difference between "then" and "than". Now what is the difference between that criticism and yours?

DA used that construction many times, and in the wrong context, leading to a reasonable conclusion that typographical error wasn't the cause. With a typographical error, that, too, may be repeated, but you have to read the context to determine the intended meanin

My guess is that my typing fingers are around 40 years older than yours, and they're not as responsive as they used to be. When I was typing 1,000-oage transcripts, day after day (Not that many in a single day, of course!) my typing was much more accurate than it is now.

When I suggested to BULERICAN this evening that he should check the difference between "continually" and "continuously", that didn't mean that he didn't know the difference. He might well have, and not thought to use it. There's a big difference between offering help and evil-minded criticism. Your expertise is the latter.

I've experienced on this forum many times that when I've tried to help someone, rather than any gratitude I'm met with angry complaint.

"Why do you think 90% of criminals in prison are black males? "

Case in point:

A fellow court reporter told me of this experience he had.

It had been reported hat at the Yuma, Arizona, Marine Corps base, (I forget the exact figures, so I'll use hypothetical ones) 85% of the courts-martial had black defendants. The Base Commander called a press conference on the subject. My co-worker attended this meeting.

Areporter asked, "Why is it that on a base with only 20% blacks, 85% of the courts try black defendants?".

My co-worker asked, "Has it occured to you that they commit 85% of the God-damned crime?".

He says he was asked to leave the meeting.

"The Bell Curve. Do you have any sources that have not been pulled out of some tinfoil-hat wearing loonie's arse?"

Come to think about it, Witchie-poo, I've never seen any original research in any of your postings, either.

More often, you see someone else's post, iterpret it to suit yourself, take that stand, and then criticize your counterpart.

Any actor can tell you. It's much easier to criticize a play than to perform it.

"(Too late in the day for proofreading.)"

Yet when I mistype "your" for "you're", you come right up and claim that I don't know the difference!

Now let's suppose that you don't know the difference between"little and "few".

Fig, it's fine if you don't believe me. Neither my Mensa membership nor my IQ is what gives my existence true value. I don't bring it up too much. I wanted to make a point that my views are such not because I feel outside certain circle....
Won't mention it again.

And you know, there are a lot of socially misfit and weird people you can meet there..(Mensa meetings)...:)

The answer is not to breed supermen but to make allowances for people with low intelligence and to not expect more from them than they are capable of. Not everyone should go to college, not everyone can be a brain surgeon or a computer engineer. It is not entirely their fault that they are born with less intelligence. But it does mean that we must have the courage to revise what we can talk about in public.

Lotus - 7 Dec 2008 // 03:55:03

So, the answer to solving our social problems is to breed a superior race? May be we should have all lower class black mothers sterilized?

I am a proponent of educating and redirecting minds to value creation.

I am out of time, would love to continue another time. BTW, where do you live, Figment?
