Teodor Dechev, Bloggers and Internet Users’ Candidate for Sofia Mayor

Teodor Dechev is the candidate of an initiative committee of Bulgarian Bloggers and Internet Users in the Sofia Mayor Elections scheduled for November 15, 2009.

Teodor Dechev was born in 1962 in Sofia. He graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy in Sofia in 1984. In 2003, he received a Master’s in political science from the Sofia University. In 2007, he earned a Ph. D. in sociology from the Sociology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

In 1998-2001, Dechev was a Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy in the government of Ivan Kostov, in charge of industrial relations. Since 2003, he has been the Deputy Chair of the Union for Economic Initiative.

During the 2009 elections, the UEI leadership, including Dechev, because famous for offering a BGN 10 000 award for any information about vote-buying in Bulgaria.
