Bulgarian Minister for the EU Affairs, Gergana Grancharova, have said the insufficient number of convictions in high-profile cases is a major obstacle for the legal system to meet the requirements of the European Commission.
Grancharova also said the EC is to closely observe the appointment of new magistrates as next year the current mandates of almost all administrative directors in the court system are to expire.
"A great problem is that high quality magistrates often sink in the troubled legal system in Bulgaria," Grancharova commented.
