Bulgaria's Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev is participating Wednesday and Thursday in the regular European Council meeting in Brussels.
Stanishev is first attending the traditional lunch of the leaders from the Party of European Socialists.
After that he is meeting with the Chair of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering, and is then join the other EU leaders for the European Council meeting.
One of the main topics during the forum will be the joint EU measures to tackle the effects of the global financial crisis.
The European Council is expected to elaborate on the joint efforts the 15 Eurozone members and the UK already discussed on Sunday.
The issues about the conflict in the Caucasus and the EU's relations with Russia are also on the European Council agenda.
