POWELL: NATO CANDIDATES SHOULD BE INVITED AS A GROUP

“I think it’s best to invite them all as a group,” Secretary of State Colin Powell said, talking about the applicant countries for NATO membership, BBC reported. He added that there seemed to be consensus for big intake in the Alliance at the special summit in Prague. According to Powell, the NATO foreign ministers shared his view. Bulgaria is one of the countries, which expects to get the go-ahead in Prague. The Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania are the other candidates, which vie for NATO membership. Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister attends the summit in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
