The European Commission is taking measures to accelerate the start of the construction of the Nabucco gas transit pipeline, the Greek TV station EPT 3 announced Thursday citing Ferran Tarantella, the speaker of the EU energy commissioner.
According to Tarantella, by the end of 2008 the Commission was going to present to Turkey and Georgia a list of questions to be discussed regarding the construction of the pipeline.
An international conference on the Nabucco Pipeline is also planned to take place in Hungary's capital Budapest in January 2009.
The construction works in Austria are expected to start in the first half of 2009. The first deliveries of Azerbaijani gas are supposed to be transported through the pipeline in 2013.
