FIRST QUARTER MARKED OVER BGN 220 M REVENUES FROM PRIVATISATION

Some BGN 220 M were the revenues from privatisation deals during the first three months of 2002, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev announced after his meeting with Jerald Schiff, head of the IMF mission to Bulgaria. The two officials discussed a number of topics, related to the economic performance of the governmental program. “We have reached consensus with IMF on the basic priorities of the reform and the budgetary policy, “ Vassilev said. Schiff pointed out that had similar goals for the improvement of the situation in Bulgaria. He said that IMF was satisfied with the high and steady economic growth. According to him, good progress in the fields of privatisation and other economic reforms was made. The International Monetary Fund mission arrived in Sofia in the end of last week to review Bulgaria's economic performance. Depending on the review, the IMF will decide in July whether to disburse the second tranche of the nine-tranche loan to Bulgaria. The International Monetary Fund approved early this year a stand-by loan worth USD 299 M. The first tranche was made available in February.
