Svetoslav Louchnikov, MP of the United Democratic Forces (UtdDF), will open the inaugural sitting of the 39th National Assembly on July 5. Under the Constitution, the honour to perform this function falls on the oldest national representative. At the inaugural sitting, the MPs will be sworn in and will elect a chairman and deputy chairmen of the National Assembly. President Stoyanov is expected to welcome the new composition of the legislature. The incumbent government ministers, who have been elected to Parliament, will also take the oath and attend the sitting in their new capacity. A working group of representatives of all four coalitions represented in Parliament will start discussing revisions to the effective Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly. Once the revised Rules are approved, the standing parliamentary committees will be formed. MPs say that until adoption of new Rules Parliament will probably use the Rules of the previous 38th National Assembly. The parliamentary group of the Simeon II National Movement will occupy the central section of seats in the debating chamber. The UtdDF will be seated in the right-hand section, and Coalition For Bulgaria in the left-hand section.
