Bulgaria's Ministry of Transport disproved Monday the information that the Spanish company FCC, which is building the second bridge across the Danube River between Bulgaria and Romania, had asked for additional EUR 100 M to execute the project.

The news was reported on Sunday by the Bulgarian National Television together with information that FCC had asked for an extension of the deadline to complete the bridge.

According to the Ministry, the company did file requests for more time and for additional payments but had not mentioned any sums.

The Danube Bridge II connecting the Bulgarian city of Vidin and the Romanian town of Calafat is supposed to be ready by December 2010, and has been estimated to cost EUR 225 M.
