A motorized outrigger boat sank Saturday while carrying passengers and cargo in the central Philippines, killing at least 10 people, the coast guard said. Cmdr. Jose Cabindo, a Coast Guard duty officer, said an unknown number of people were missing after the accident around 4:30 p.m. The MB Melody went down about a mile off Naval pier in Biliran province while en route to Maripipi. Cabindo said he could not confirm radio reports of 19 fatalities. The cause of the accident was under investigation. Cabindo said the weather was good at the time.
