NEARLY BGN 260,000 RELEASED BY CABINET FOR POPE?S VISIT

Billboards with the Pope will line the road from Sofia to Plovdiv, while flags of Bulgaria and the Vatikan will be placed along Trakiya highway for the Papal visit in Bulgaria (www.popeinbulgaria.com). About BGN 70,000 will be needed for this, which are part of all BGN 259,000, the Cabinet earmarked for the visit of the Pope. The press attachй of the Culture Ministry said that more money will be released if this is not enough. The contractors under the project still have not been appointed, nor is it clear whether the expenses will be handled under the Public Procurement Act. A total of BGN 155,000 will be used for the meeting at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which includes the constructing of the platforms and, decoration with flowers and flags, coverage by the Bulgarian National Television, royalties of the performance. The additional expenses on the security are also included in the sum. Representatives of the Cabinet said that this is an investment in the good image of Bulgaria.
