Teen drinking rate in Bulgaria is among the highest in Europe, while the number of youngsters going in for a sport is one of the lowest, a survey by European Cities against Drugs (ECAD) shows.

The research conducted in nine European cities, among them Vilnius, Reykjavik, Riga, Helsinki, and Saint-Petersburg, shows that 16,7% of the 15-year-old teenagers in Sofia regularly get drunk, which is the highest percentage compared to the results in the other cities.

About 33,8 percent of Sofia teens interviewed got drunk "at least once during the past month," while 70,5 % regularly drink hard liquor.

A total of 61,9 % of Bulgarian teenagers declare that they have never practiced any sport, while at the same time 32,6 % smoke regularly.
