Several hundred jobs for laid-off military officials will be created in four pilot projects of the Defence Ministry and the Tolerance Association, said Efrem Radev, programme director with the Resource Center Foundation, which coordinates the projects. Radev spoke at a news conference at the opening of a working meeting Monday on the problems of the social adaptation of military officers who will be laid-off from the army. 2002 and 2003 are the hardest years for redundancies in the army in the time of continuing reform so that finding opportunities for social adaptation of laid-off military is of paramount importance, Pandev said. May 15 is the end of the six-month notice time for 3,000 military officials. Notices to another 6,000 people, of whom 2,500 officers, will be given in June.
