Spain Marks 4 Years since Bloody Terrorist Attacks

Spain marks Tuesday the fourth year since the terrorist attacks of March 11, 2004, that left 191 dead and almost two thousand wounded.

Four Bulgarians also perished in the explosions in the Madrid commuter train systems, which the court later qualified as al-Qaeda-inspired even though not directly carried out by it.

March 11 has been declared the European Day in Memory of victims of terrorist attacks.

With respect to March 11, the EU Justice Commissioner Franco Fratini reminded of the proposal for new security measures in the EU, which include taking fingerprints and electronic registering for all who leave or enter a EU member state.
