The leader in the Democratic Party race for the US Presidency Sen. Barack Obama categorically explicitly declined the invitation by Sen. Hillary Clinton and her husband President Bill Clinton to share the ticket headed by his rival.
"I don't know how somebody who's in second place is offering vice presidency to the person who's in first place", said Obama quoted by CNN, in response to President Clinton's statement that a Clinton-Obama ticket would be "unstoppable".
The potential common nomination of the two rivals enjoys support by many Democrats, and has often been mentioned as "the dream ticket".
Sen. Obama has 1,553 delegated to the national party convention vs. 1,438 for Sen. Clinton. The Mississippi Democratic primary is taking place Tuesday, and according to recent polls, the state will be carried by Obama. The next critical Democratic race between the two candidates is in Pennsylvania on April 22.
