The support for the parties has grown weaker after the four-year mandate of the Union of Democratic Forces (1997-2001) and the establishment of the Simeon II National Movement and this explains why there was low turnout at the partial local elections, Miroslava Yanova, sociologist from the MBMD sociological agency commented. If the political process maintains the same trend, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will be the strongest political force at the local elections, she forecast. The reason for that, according to Yanova, is the fact that leftist BSP unlike rightist UDF has kept its positive image in the country.
