In his first statement after he retired from Cuba's Presidency, Fidel Castro declared Saturday the US thought of annexing Cuba.
Referring to the calls for a fundamental change in Cuba that the US presidential candidates made after his resignation, Castro declared that when the American "enemy" spoke of change, it meant "annexation".
In Castro's words, Cuba had been fundamentally changed long ago and it would keep the course, whereas it was the US, which needed change today.
With respect to Castro, the leader for the Republican presidential nomination, the US Senator from Arizona John Maccain said Friday he hoped "Fidel would meet Marx soon", referring to the most influential theoretician of communism who died in 1883.
Fidel Castro's brother Raul is expected to be declared Cuba's next president on Sunday.
