A passenger jet Boeing 777 has crashlanded Thursday at world's busiest Heathrow airport short of the south runway, injuring three of the passengers on board, CNN reported.
British Airways' flight BA38 from Beijing, China was the machine, involved in the incident, the company itself confirmed.
Officials said all 136 people aboard have been evacuated in time.
An emergency operation started after images showed the plane grounded on tarmac several hundred meters short of the runway, close to a perimeter road, with its emergency chutes deployed.
The undercarriage and right engine of the aircraft seemed to be severely damaged and tire tracks hundreds of meters long could be seen in the grass behind the jet.
The flight had carried out an emergency landing at 12.42pm GMT.
The incident led to major delays for passengers although the northern runway remained open.
The incident occurred as British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was due to leave Heathrow for a visit to China and India. His flight was delayed but his jet was not directly involved.
