Troubled pop star Britney Spears lost custody of her two baby boys on Friday, following her lockdown for a mental evaluation.

The family court in Los Angeles gave "the sole legal and physical custody" of the children to Britney's former backup dancer and ex-husband Kevin Federline, People.com reported.

Spears' visitation rights were also suspended until "further order."

Police responded to Spears's house on Thursday night after she refused to turn over the boys to Federline's bodyguard after a visitation day.

Early on Friday, the pop star was taken from her home on a stretcher and taken to a hospital where she was put on a 72-hour lockdown.

The mental evaluation the pop idol was subjected to is, according to the medical code necessary, "When any person, as a result of mental disorder, is a danger to others, or to himself or herself, or gravely disabled."
