A strike by Air France ground staff at Paris' Orly airport led to the cancellation of dozens of domestic flights and delayed others for more than an hour on the eve of the Christmas holidays.

The strike did not disrupt international flights.

Nearly 20% of the domestic flights to take off from Orly-West terminal were slated on Thursday though passengers were rerouted on other flights, Air France officials said, as cited by Le Monde.

Around 50% of the staff joined the strike on Friday, which did not affect the Charles de Gaulle airport north of Paris.

The strikers are demanding higher wages and better working conditions.
