Mikhail Gorbachev, former USSR president will arrive in Bulgaria on May 5, Alexander Tomov, leader of the Bulgaria’s Euroleftist Party announced. Gorbachev was invited to Bulgaria in his capacity of leader of the Russian social democrats. “The visit of Gorbachev is political. A conference is being prepared with representatives of Bulgaria’s leftist and rightist parties, “ Tomov explained.Mikhail Gorbachev served as President of the Soviet Union from 1990-1991 and as General Secretary of the Polit Bureau of the Central Committee, Communist Party of Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991. Famous as the architect of the "perestroika," he is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1990), the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labour, and the Badge of Honour.
