BULGARIA`S EXPORTS IN APRIL amounted to USD 372.1 million, imports stood at USD 521.2 million, the National Statistical Institute said.
Compared to the month-ago period, exports fell by nearly USD 79 million, imports by USD 40 million.

BULGARIA`S IMPORTS FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION rose 22%. Imports from Germany and Italy increased 17% to USD 302 million and 37% to USD 215 million, respectively. Exports to Greece rose 25% and exceeded USD 152 million. Greece, Germany and Italy are some of Bulgaria`s main markets.

ENTITIES related with the activities of the Bobovdol thermal power station /TPP/, such as the maintenance and repairs facilities, will
be sold out to strategic investors, said Ivan Shilyashki, head of the energy efficiency government agency. The Bobovdol TPP evoked the
interest of some Japanese potential investors.

TRADE with Turkey was discussed at a joint session of the pro-committees of Bulgaria and turkey in Plovdiv, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. The problems in crossing the state border and the customs procedures will be the major items in the discussion.

THE LATEST hydropower station of Srednogorci near the town of Madan was launched in a probation period. So far the HPP`s output stood at 300,000 kWh. The facility is equipped with two Hyrdrochrom Czech turbines with a capacity of 430 kWh each, and Siemens generators. A third, smaller turbine of 160 kWh will be installed shortly. The estimated ROI term is 7 years.

THE NATIONAL Association of Bulgarian Municipalities wants a revision of local tax appropriation, at 70:30 in favour of the municipal to republican budgets, said Dobrich deputy mayor Sultanka Mincheva.
